Duas for patience (sabr)
Duas for patience in hardship, from the Qur’an and Sunnah, each with its source.
Steadfastness and a sound heart
O Allah, I ask You to keep me steadfast and determined to follow what is right. Help me give thanks for Your blessings and worship You well. Grant me a heart that is sound and a tongue that speaks truth. I ask for the good known to You, seek Your protection from the evil known to You, and ask Your forgiveness for what You know.

Make our feet firm
Our Lord, pour patience upon us and make our feet firm.
Patience and prayer in loss
O you who believe, seek help through patience and prayer. Allah is with those who are patient. Do not say of those killed in the way of Allah, ‘They are dead.’ They are alive, though you do not perceive it. We will surely test you with some fear and hunger, and loss of wealth, lives and crops. Give good news to those who are patient: those who, when a hardship strikes them, say, ‘We belong to Allah, and to Him we return.’ Upon them are blessings from their Lord, and mercy, and they are the rightly guided.

Forgive our excesses and steady us
Our Lord, forgive our sins and our excesses in our affairs, and make our feet firm.
The prophets who called out in distress
And Ayyub, when he called out to his Lord: ‘Hardship has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.’ So We answered him and removed his hardship, and We gave him back his family and as many more with them, as mercy from Us and a reminder for those who worship. And Ismail, Idris and Dhul-Kifl: each was among the patient. We admitted them into Our mercy; they were among the righteous. And Dhun-Nun, when he left in anger and thought We would not constrain him. Then he called out in the darkness: ‘There is no god but You. Glory be to You. I have been among those who wronged themselves.’ So We answered him and rescued him from distress. That is how We rescue the believers. And Zakariyya, when he called out to his Lord: ‘My Lord, do not leave me alone, and You are the best of inheritors.’ So We answered him, gave him Yahya, and made his wife able to bear a child. They used to hurry to do good and call on Us in hope and in awe, and they were humble before Us.

Accept my repentance and guide my heart
My Lord, accept my repentance, wash away my sin, answer my supplication, make my case firm, make my tongue truthful, guide my heart, and draw resentment out of my chest.
